Saba and Openhouse Magazine hosted a unique exhibition to praise nature in occasion of the 2024 edition of 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen.

The latest collections designed by Zanellato/Bortotto were presented alongside the most acclaimed photographs from the magazine’s decade-long journey at the exclusive Soho House in Copenhagen. Located in the former customs house, a classical modernist building designed by Kristoffer Nyrop Varming in 1937, it’s the first Soho House in Scandinavia and comes complete with a waterfront terrace.

Saba wished to homage the unique location overlooking the river, by presenting the latest collections inspired by the nautical world.
In fact, the Vela and Vela Piping sofas stem from a research project that look to the shapes of sails as inspiration, both sofas present stitching details that recall nautical characteristics, making the products elegant and precious. The brand new Cime carpet collection looked to lugsails for its graphics that refer to symbols and colours that identified fishermen families of the Venetian laguna. What really excites visually and in a tactile form, is the ancient Sardinian technique called Pibiones, handed down by generations of women. These carpets become places for narrating of stories and traditions and are told through a “sheep-dyed” wool thread, in which the voice of nature is the protagonist as these colors are created with no chemical intervention but only by mixing different amounts of the wool from white and black sheep. Lastly, the sinuous shapes of the Teatro Magico Low Tables, designed by 967arch, also recall the movement of water and waves, perfectly embracing the nautical theme.

During the 3-day exhibtion, Saba and Openhouse hosted a cocktail party followed by an intimate dinner for press and design lovers, friends and colleagues.
